There’s only one way to move forward, and it’s by taking one step at a time. One foot in front of the other so that one step turns into two, then six, then twenty, and eventually, you will be strides ahead of where you were once standing.

Taking the first step towards a goal, whether it’s in your work, your relationships, your passions and hobbies, can seem daunting. I think it’s because taking the first step can make the possibilities that lie ahead seem real! There’s a certain accountability that comes with taking the first step, and that can be scary - but it can also be exciting! Moving forward isn’t always a result of having to leave something behind. It can be an opportunity for something new, exciting, fun, different, challenging and inspiring!

Working towards a goal isn't easy but it seems more manageable to approach the bigger picture by breaking down the process into multiple smaller steps. I am taking one step at a time towards finding myself and building a better life for myself; one that sparks joy and happiness through my art! My paintings, this one especially, is what taking one step at a time looks like. One brushstroke, one spill, one line, one drip, have all combined to create a story that is uniquely mine.
